President Emomali Rahmon Attends Gala Events celebrating State Language Day
DUSHANBE, 04.10.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon attended a gala event celebrating Language Day, which took place at the Kokhi Borbad.
In his address President Rahmon congratulated the glorious people of Tajikistan and his compatriots living abroad with Language Day, which has been celebrated on October 5 since 2009. He called the state language an vital national value, and its development an important task for all state and public structures.
Recalling the long-standing historical role of the Tajik language as the official language President Rahmon said that “our mother tongue is a sweet, graceful and poetic language, which has for thousands of years preserved the knowledge and education of the Tajik people. It evidences its vital role in the historical destiny of our nation. That is, the glorious Tajik people wrote their unique history and culture in this language and presented it to the world.”
It is worth noting that due to great the selfless work and incomparable exploits of the Tajik people, starting with Ismoil Somoni and Rudaki to Ayni and Bobojon Gafurov, the rich treasure of words and terms and beautiful and passionate compositions were able to reached our day. We can proudly say that the well-known Samanid dynasty played a key role in the preservation, and destiny of the nation and our language.
President Rahmon advised the current and future heirs of the true and powerful language to protect its purity and its comprehensive development as the official working language of culture, science and technology.
Observance of rules and norms of the state language, especially for employees of periodicals, radio, television, publishing houses, teachers and caregivers of educational and preschool institutions, as well as parents in the upbringing and education of children was emphasized.
He gave instructions to the relevant government structures for the implementation of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan,” the implementation of the “Tajik Language Spelling Rules,» the «Spelling Dictionary of the Tajik Language,» and the development of the draft «Program for the Development of the State Language for 2020-2030.”
It was also emphasized that it is necessary to create conditions for learning foreign languages, especially Russian and English in the secondary educational institutions. Today, Tajikistan maintains diplomatic relations with 160 countries. This requires promoting the learning of foreign languages.
At the end of the speech, President Rahmon emphasized that it is our duty to protect the Tajik language as that which unifies all Tajik citizens.
