Tajik Delegation Meets With EU Officials in Brussels
DUSHANBE, 12.12.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan’s delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirodjiddin Muhriddin met with the EU Political and Security Commitee members in Brussels on the sidelines of Tajikistan — EU Cooperation Council Meeting.
Muhriddin addressed the progress and achievements of Tajikistan and the country’s efforts in countering modern security threats, as well as the potential for effective cooperation between Tajikistan and Europe.
The comprehensive dialogue covered all aspects of cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU and focused on ways of strengthening and enhancing the means of connecting opportunities and prospects.
The parties exchanged views on important regional and international issues.
The EU Political and Security Committee members commended Tajikistan’s reforms and efforts to strengthen the rule of law and democratic society.
Muhriddin also met with the new EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of development of multifaceted relations between Tajikistan and the EU.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the dynamically developing relations between Tajikistan and the EU through various mechanisms of bilateral and regional cooperation.
The officials also discussed issues relating to the international agenda, as well as other topics of mutual interest.
During the same day, Muhriddin met with the Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmidt.
The meeting focused on a wide range of issues relating to the multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU, which Schmidt assessed positively. The parties also Tajikistan – EU Eighth Cooperation Council Meeting, which was held on December 10.
