Tajikistan-EU Cooperation Council Held in Brussels
DUSHANBE, 11.12.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The eighth meeting of Cooperation Council between Tajikistan and the European Union was held on December 10 in Brussels. The Tajik delegation was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the EU delegation was chaired by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman.
The agenda of the meeting covered the key aspects of partnership and cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU, political and economic issues, human rights, as well as international and regional topics, reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The main areas of cooperation, trade-economic ties, energy, ensuring border security, fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as regional cooperation within the framework of the new EU Strategy on Central Asia were also touched upon.
Following the meeting, a press conference was held with the participation of the heads of Tajikistan and the EU delegations. The parties expressed satisfaction with the results of the meeting, and confirmed their interest in continuing the constructive dialogue.
