Tajik Foreign Minister Meets US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs
DUSHANBE, 07.01.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Ambassador Alice Wells. The meeting took place on January 7 in Dushanbe.
According to the Tajik MFA, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and the USA, and exchanged views on current trends in the region and the world, including regional security and the peace process in the neighboring Afghanistan.
In this context the sides paid special attention to the issues of strengthening the protection of the Tajik-Afghan border, and making consistent effort in jointly addressing the threats of modern times, namely terrorism, extremism, radicalism, and illicit drug trafficking.
