DUSHANBE, 09.04.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The discussion touched upon the current aspects relating to Tajik – Kazakh relations and regional collaboration.

The parties noted the steady enhancement of the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, and emphasized to further joint efforts to maintain it.

“Kazakhstan is an important trade and economic partner of Tajikistan, and our countries have very strong friendly relations, based on a long tradition of cooperation and mutual support”- noted President of Tajikistan.

In this context, appreciation was expressed to the Government and the leadership of Kazakhstan for the humanitarian assistance provided to Tajikistan during a difficult period for all of us.

He expressed the willingness of Tajik side to provide Kazakhstani side with fresh fruit and vegetable products in the required volumes.

While discussing the situation caused by the spread of the coronavirus, the parties informed about the situation that is developing today in the two countries against the backdrop of the pandemic.

President of Tajikistan noted the timely response of fraternal Kazakhstan to the spread of infectious diseases and praised the steps taken by leadership and Government of Kazakhstan for these purposes.

The presidents also spoke with concern about the trends of an ever-sinking global economy in crisis and the beginning of a new global recession.

The importance of further strengthening regional cooperation and coordinating joint efforts in combating coronavirus pandemic was noted.
