FM Muhriddin Meets with Newly Appointed UNICEF Representative
DUSHANBE, 27.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with a newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan Osama Makkawi.
The parties discussed the issue relating to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Tajikistan, reports the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Muhriddin emphasized the importance of delivering 64 tons of personal protective equipment aimed at increasing the capacity of the country’s health sector to respond to this disease and thanked UNICEF on behalf of the government for its assistance.
The parties also exchanged views on planned measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, training of medical personnel, as well as the purchase of necessary medical equipment for the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population.
The parties also touched upon issues relating to cooperation and implementation of bilateral projects.
Following the meeting, Muhriddin wished Makkawi success in his new post.
