President Emomali Rahmon Arrived in Vanj District

DUSHANBE, 20.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Following his visit to Darvoz, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Vanj district.
President Rahmon’s working trip to Vanj district began with a visit to the Exhibition of Agricultural Products, which showcased local products and achievements in the agriculture sector as well as Exhibition of Handmade Crafts.
The exhibitions were organized following the announcement of 2019-2021 as the Period of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts.
The arable land in Vanj district is 2,601 hectares, of which 1,013 hectares are orchards, 520 hectares are devoted to the cultivation of grain, 472 hectares to potatoes, 188 hectares to vegetables and the rest are pastures.
The opening ceremony of Vanj City shopping center followed the list. The center was financed and built by local businessmen.
Next, President Rahmon took part in the opening ceremony for the building of the Vanj Ministry of Internal Affairs Department and building of the Vanj Military Commissariat.
Concluding his trip, President Rahmon met with representatives of the public with whom he discussed the socio-economic development of Vanj.
The discussion focused on improving living standards, agro-industries development, tourism sector development, effective use of raw material processing capacity, increasing agricultural output, developing horticulture, animal husbandry, beekeeping, and supplying the market with domestic agricultural products.
It was noted that the government has allocated more than 680 million somoni from the state budget to ensure economic and social development and prosperity of Vanj district. More than 170 million somoni has been allocated toward the construction of 100 facilities, 7 educational institutions. Over 50 million somoni was spent on repairs.
During this period, 150 facilities worth 70 million somoni have been built and reconstructed through other sources of funding.
In addition, 182 million somoni has been disbursed over the past 29 years through the implementation of seven public investment projects.
To date, 55 social and industrial facilities have been built and the construction of seventeen facilities is underway, and will be put into operation before the celebration of the 30th anniversary of independence.
President Rahmon stressed that the government is currently working with development partners for the reconstruction of the Kalaikhumb-Vanj highway, and over the next three years will implement a project on reconstruction of 93 km of this highway worth more than 2 billion somoni. This also includes the construction of 15 bridges and two tunnels.
Currently, five public investment projects are being implemented in Vanj district worth 13 million somoni with a focus on transport, education, vocational education and social protection.
