Socialist Party of Tajikistan Nominates Presidential Candidate

DUSHANBE, 22.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Chairman of the Socialist Party of Tajikistan (SPT) Abduhalim Gafforov was elected as a presidential candidate.
Gafforov was elected with a unanimous vote of the congress deputies.
During his speech at the congress, Gafforov noted that over the 24 years of its existence, the party took part in all political processes taking place in Tajikistan.
One of the most important issues in the party’s election program are health care, privatization of state property, culture and education.
Gafforov has been nominated for the post of president several times between 2006-2013 and in 2015 and 2020 he was elected as a deputy to the Representatives’ Assembly.
Earlier on August 15 the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan nominated the party’s Chairman Rustam Latifzoda for the post of president.
Presidential elections will be held on October 11.
