Tajikistan and China Held Political Consultations

DUSHANBE, 24.09.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, new round of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Tajikistan and China was held in the format of a videoconference.
The delegations of the parties were headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Khusrav Noziri and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Le Yucheng.
The parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of Tajik-Chinese relations of friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as exchanged views on topical regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The steady and purposeful development of bilateral Tajik-Chinese relations in all spheres was noted with satisfaction. The importance of implementing the agreements reached between the Heads of the two states for further deepening and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two neighboring countries was emphasized.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. While considering the spread of the new coronavirus infection and its negative impact on the social and economic situation in the region and the world as a whole, the need to build up a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries at all levels was emphasized.
The parties expressed hope for fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the newly established Central Asia-China mechanism. The parties regard these platforms as an important form of development and strengthening of relations between Tajikistan and China.
The parties considered the implementation of joint projects in Tajikistan aimed at achieving the country’s strategic goals — ensuring energy and food security, bringing the country out of communication isolation and accelerated industrialization of the country.
It was expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.
The parties also expressed their readiness to further strengthen multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China.
Following the political consultations, they expressed their readiness to continue putting joint efforts to continuously advance the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two friendly countries.
