Tajik and Kyrgyz FMs Hold Negotiations in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 19.11.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin held negotiations with his Kyrgyz counterpart Ruslan Kazakbayev in Dushanbe.
It was emphasized that Tajik-Kyrgyz relations are based on centuries-old bonds of friendship and good-neighborliness, as well as common cultural and spiritual values.
The ministers discussed the current state of the bilateral political dialogue. It was stated that for the development of this area, the parties have the necessary mechanisms of interaction, such as the Interstate Coordination Council, the Intergovernmental Commission for the Comprehensive Consideration of Issues of Bilateral Cooperation and the Council of Foreign Ministers.
The parties also exchanged views on trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and discussed issues in the field of transport and use of water resources of transboundary rivers.
They agreed to take urgent measures to create favorable conditions for further developing trade, mutual investment activities and the full use of the transit potential.
Special attention was paid to delimitation and demarcation of the state border line. The heads of delegations spoke for the full use of the potential of the Intergovernmental Commission on the Delimitation and Demarcation of the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border.
They also discussed the interaction of countries, in particular the UN, CIS, SCO, CSTO, OSCE and CICA.
Following the negotiations, a Program of Cooperation was signed between the two ministries for 2021-2022.
