President Emomali Rahmon Visits Bobojon Ghafurov and Buston of Sughd Province

DUSHANBE, 03.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On the second day of his working visit to Sughd Province, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon laid the foundation for the creation of an intensive garden in Sultonobod of the Zarzamin community in the Bobojon Ghafurov district and planted fruit trees in the newly intensive orchard.
The 7 hectare garden is part of a 300 hectare export-oriented garden.
Within the framework of the Programme for the Development of Horticulture and Viticulture for 2016-2020, Sughd farmers have made significant achievements in this field. During this period 4,360 hectares of new gardens have been created, which is 170% of the plan.
Addressing the Supreme Assembly, President Rahmon noted that the area of orchards and vineyards has reached more over 200,000 hectares.
More than 112,000 hectares of new orchards and vineyards have been created in the country since independence, which has significantly contributed to the country’s food security, public employment, and the growth of export and supply of the food and garment industries with raw materials.
In accordance with President Rahmon’s instructions, for the last five years, instead of 2076 hectares, more than 5,000 hectares of old gardens have been rehabilitated and 207 hectares of intensive gardens have been created in Sughd.
In order to provide consumer markets with environmentally friendly fruits and its export within the framework of the aforementioned program, over 373 hectares of old vineyards have been rehabilitated and 351 hectares of new vineyards have been created in the same province.
President Rahmon also visited the Exhibition of Agricultural Products in Bobojon Ghafurov district.
With the adoption of sectoral programs, the livestock sector has developed and the number of cattle has increased. In particular, in 2020 the number of cattle in the district increased by 2,873, with the total reaching 80,553 heads.
The Integrated Program of Livestock Sector Development for 2018-2022 is being comprehensively implemented in the region, and good development indicators have been indicated in this area. In 2020 the number of cattle in the region reached 669,710, the number of small cattle amounted to 1.5 million, which is 12,735 more compared to 2019.
The production of milk and meat also increased significantly. Annually, milk production in the district is increasing up to 972.8 tonnes.
In addition, President Rahmon visited the city of Buston and inspected the activity of the Duzandagi and Poyafzolbarori of the Special Property Supply Agency.
The purpose of these enterprises is to provide soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces with military uniforms and footwear.
The production capacity of the shoe factory is 15,000 pairs annually, and this factory mainly supplies raw materials from Russia and produces high quality leather shoes.
The enterprise has produced about 20,000 sets of military uniforms, and this year officials intend to further increase its production capacity. President Rahmon also visited the modern MMC Agro greenhouse and took part in the tomato harvesting campaign.
