Press Statement by FM Muhriddin on the Outcomes of the Tajik-Turkish Negotiations

Distinguished members of the media,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today’s bilateral meeting was traditionally held in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual understanding and confidence.
The meeting reviewed all the areas of cooperation of mutual interest between the two friendly and fraternal countries and various aspects of key regional and international issues. In particular, the issues related to the strengthening and expansion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey in various fields were central points of this meeting.
In this context, the views were exchanged on the current state and prospects of political, economic, trade, investment cooperation and interactions in the fields of education, science, culture, health, tourism, security, the fight against terrorism, as well as strengthening the legal framework for collaboration.
It is noteworthy that the cooperation between the two friendly and fraternal countries have acquired an unwavering process. Today, the favorable atmosphere of trust, the necessary political and legal framework and the means to ensure mutually beneficial cooperation are provided within the interstate relations between Tajikistan and Turkey. However, both sides aspire to further expand cooperation to meet the existing capacities of Tajikistan and Turkey.
The intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Republic of Turkey in different areas, including attraction of Turkish investments into the economy of Tajikistan is one of the foreign policy priorities of our country.
While highlighting the important role of high-level visits in the development of relations between Tajikistan and Turkey at the current stage, the parties expressed their support for the intensification of reciprocal visits by the heads of both states.
The parties had a special focus to boost the trade and economic ties and expressed interest to promote this process taking advantage of the existing opportunities of both countries.
It was stressed that today Turkey is one of the most important trade partners of Tajikistan. Despite the negative impact of external factors, including the consequences of COVID-19 pandemic, the sides agreed to take measures to implement the agreements reached by the Presidents of the two countries to increase bilateral trade up to 1 billion USD.
In this regard, the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation were considered as a significant mechanism for the deliberation and further planning of bilateral cooperation.
During the talks, the parties focused on investment cooperation and the establishment of joint ventures. In this respect, it was stressed that today the two countries have established mutually beneficial cooperation in the realization of joint projects.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation and coordination of positions within the regional and international organizations.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Protocol between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries for 2021-2023 were signed during the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey to Tajikistan.
I would like to emphasize that our meetings and talks took place in an atmosphere of goodwill, sincerity and mutual trust and respect.
