DUSHANBE, 30.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, per initiative of the Kyrgyz side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a telephone conversation with his Kyrgyz counterpart Ruslan Kazakbaev.
The ministers discussed in detail the difficult situation that occurred on April 28-29 in the border regions of the two countries.
Muhriddin noted that the development of relations with neighbors in the region, with whom Tajikistan is bound by centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighborliness, is a priority of the country’s foreign policy.
Muhriddin stressed that Tajikistan is full of determination through negotiations, search for mutually acceptable solutions and, taking into account its national interests, to progressively resolve issues related to the delimitation and demarcation of the state border line with Kyrgyzstan.
He also said that Tajikistan will never give up the lands that originally and rightfully belonged to it.
The ministers stressed the importance of resolving all issues of the state border exclusively through negotiations, noted the inadmissibility of attempts at provocations by certain interested parties, which lead to a further escalation of the situation.
They also noted that the lack of trust in the border areas could lead to new incidents and entail serious consequences, in particular, civilian casualties in the two neighboring states.
The ministers agreed that it is necessary to show strong political will in solving complex issues of the state border.
