Emomali Rahmon Meets CSTO Foreign Ministers
DUSHANBE, 19.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the heads of delegations taking part in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) in Dushanbe.
The issues related to the fulfillment of the plan of actions for implementation of decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council and priorities of Tajikistan’s rotating presidency in the organization were the main items of the agenda.
While noting the successful organization of the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defence, Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Dushanbe on April, President Rahmon stressed that Tajikistan in accordance with the identified priorities of CSTO is effectively fulfilling the functions of its rotating presidency with the support of the member states of the organization.
The meeting participants reportedly pointed to the necessity of conducting a comprehensive analysis of the organization’s activities over the past period and formulating the Strategy of the Development of the organization until 2025.
The issues of cooperation between CSTO member nations in providing regional security and implementing the organization’s programs on strengthening the protecting the Tajik-Afghan border and jointly addressing challenges and threats such as terrorism, extremism and transnational organized crime, especially drug trafficking, were also discussed.
