Foreign Minister Muhriddin Meets UN Resident Coordinator

DUSHANBE, 08.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Sezin Sinanoglu.
The meeting focused on the current situation in the Tajik-Kyrgyz border area.
Muhriddin informed Sinanoğlu about the recent incidents on the state border with Kyrgyzstan and the outcomes of negotiations between the two countries at all levels. He noted Tajikistan’s efforts to stabilize the situation, in particular through the resumption of negotiations in the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission on Border Delimitation and Demarcation.
He stressed that Dushanbe has a strong political will to resolve all issues of delimitation and demarcation of the state border with Kyrgyzstan only through negotiations and based on previous bilateral agreements.
Sinanoglu welcomed the reached agreement and the signing of protocols on the settlement of the conflict and the resumption of negotiations.
The parties also discussed the issues related to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and specialized UN agencies.
