Working Trip to Abdurahmoni Jomi, Vakhsh and Kulob of Khatlon Province

DUSHANBE, 15.06.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon was on a working trip to Abdurahmoni Jomi, Vakhsh and Kulob of Khatlon region.
The purpose of his visit was to get acquainted with the pace of the work to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster that occurred on May 6-11. He also attended the opening of a number of socio-economic facilities.
In the Abdurahmoni Jomi district, mudflows had destroyed 20 houses in the Iftikhor village. Fortunately, no casualties had been reported during the rescue operation. The financial damage caused to the population in this incident will be fully compensated.
In Vakhsh, heavy rains and mudflows had destroyed 41 houses and had partially damaged 33 houses. The mudflows had also damaged 130 auxiliary facilities, eight bridges, and ten kilometers of roads and 1933 hectares of agricultural land. Unfortunately, this incident had resulted in casualties. The total damage caused by the disaster is valued at approximately 22 million somoni.
In Kulob, mudflows had destroyed 43 houses and partially damaged 102 houses, as well as 606 auxiliary facilities. The mudflows had also damaged ten bridges, four schools and kindergartens, six kilometers of roads, more than 13 irrigation canals, 128 ares of arable lands, seven substations, and five electrical units. Damage caused by mudflows to Kulob has been estimated at 45.5 million somoni.
Emomali Rahmon handed over the keys of some of the newly built houses to the affected residents of the mentioned areas. The construction works in the other house are being continued and are planned to be completed by Independence Day.
During the meeting President Rahmon called on the population to keep their spirits up and not be discouraged and assured them that by September of this year all the destroyed houses would be fully restored.
