DUSHANBE, 15.07.2021. (NIAT Khovar) – Today, at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a joint event of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade with the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the title “Presentation and adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Roadmap”.

The event was attended by Deputy Heads of the ministries and governmental agencies, experts, heads of the UN specialized agencies, members of the UN Country Team and civil society representations.

The gathering was aimed at raising awareness of governmental authorities’ representatives on the development process of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework in Tajikistan for 2023-2026, which serves as the basis for the implementation of joint UN programs in our country.

The event started with the opening statements of the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mr. Ashurboy Solehzoda and the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Sezin Sinanoglu. In this segment, Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Muzaffar Huseinzoda also delivered an opening speech and expressed views concerning stages of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations in various fields and briefed the participants on the position of our country towards the mentioned Cooperation Framework. At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned that strengthening and expanding cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies is among the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In the course of the meeting, the UN Country Team experts delivered presentations and reports, and also replied to participants’ questions about main aspects of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Roadmap.

It should be noted that a full draft of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework will be completed by June 2022 and submitted to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for formal review and endorsement.
