Qatar Positively Assesses President Rahmon’s Initiative to Declare the International Year of Glacier Preservation

DUSHANBE, 04.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Issues related to the development and signing of a memorandum between the Committee for Environmental Protection under the government of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Qatar were discussed at the meeting of the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection Bahodur Sheralizoda and the Minister for Environment and Climate Change Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani on the sidelines of the COP26 in Glasgow.
Along with the discussion on the expansion of cooperation between the environmental bodies, the parties drew special attention to President Rahmon’s initiative to declare 2025 as the International Year for Glacier Preservation, which was positively assessed by Qatar.
The meeting also focused on issues related to the expansion and development of cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar in the field of ecological tourism.
