Afghanistan is in a political and humanitarian crisis, which can have serious long-term consequences. In this regard, it is important for the international community to provide targeted humanitarian assistance to the suffering people of Afghanistan.
Tajikistan has offered its wide logistical capabilities to facilitate in this process.
It was through Tajikistan that on November 26 humanitarian assistance provided by the World Food Program was brought into Afghanistan.
Humanitarian assistance consisting of 2,500 tonnes of flour was delivered to Afghanistan’s Badakhshan through the checkpoints in the Tajik-Afghan border.
The transfer was organized at a time when the population of Afghanistan, in particular residents of remote mountainous regions, with the approaching winter had limited access to food, while international organizations and donor countries did not have access to these regions.
“Tajikistan intends to continue to offer its territory for the transportation of humanitarian goods,” noted Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry.
