Tajik and Chinese Presidents Meets in Beijing

DUSHANBE, 05.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The leaders had an in-depth exchange of opinions on bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, investment, and industry.
Offering his thanks for the warm welcome and the invitation to the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, President Rahmon congratulated Xi with the successful organization of the opening ceremony of the Olympics, as well as with the Spring Festival.
Hailing the 30-year history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the good neighborly relations, friendship and mutual trust of strategic partnership.
The interest was expressed in importing new technologies and creating the foundations for the introduction of green technologies in Tajikistan, in particular with regard to the [production of] electric vehicles, [the use of] solar panels, the construction and equipping energy facilities in Tajikistan with advanced technologies.
The leaders also discussed the expansion of cooperation in the field of agriculture, in particular the possibility of increasing the export of environmentally friendly Tajik agricultural products to China, as well as the further development of transport and logistics infrastructure.
Tajikistan is willing to actively participate in the One Belt — One Road Initiative and promote cooperation in various fields such as the development of new industrial, energy, transport and agricultural projects under this framework that can be drive in promoting mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.
Having noted the importance of expansion of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sheres, education, and health care, President Rahmon offered his thanks to the chinese side for providing support and assistance in the form of the delivery of anti-coronavirus vaccines.
The leaders also exchanged opinions regarding the fight against terrorism, extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking and cybercrime, as well as the socio-economic situation in the neighboring Afghanistan.
The parties paid special attention to cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international and regional organizations.
At the end of the meeting President Rahmon invited President Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Tajikistan. The invitation was gladly accepted.
