Muhriddin and El-Hashemite Discuss Preparations for the Second International High-Level Water Conference in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 20.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On March 18, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin had a virtual meeting with the Head of the Royal Academy of Science International Trust Princess Nisreen El-Hashemite.
Muhriddin briefed about the process of preparations for the Second International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” entitled “Catalyzing water action and partnership at the local, national, regional and global levels” (Dushanbe, 6-9 June 2022).
He emphasized its importance as a global preparatory event for the United Nations Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the Objectives of International Water Decade (New York, 22-24 March 2023).

El-Hashemite highlighted the water initiatives of the above mentioned Academy, particularly the international program entitled “Cansu Global” which aims at the accelerated development and application of science, technology and innovation in solution of water related issues.
The parties also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and expressed their readiness for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of water resources management.
