Tajik Delegation Attends World Water Forum in Senegal

DUSHANBE, 24.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) — On March 21, Tajik delegation headed by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma with participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda and the Head of the Secretariat of the Second High-Level International Conference dedicated to the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028» (June, 6 — 9, 2022 in Dushanbe) Sulton Rahimzoda took part in the opening ceremony of the 9th World Water Forum, which takes place from March 21 to March 26, 2022 in Dakar, Senegal.
The President of Senegal Macky Sall emphasized the importance of the outcomes of the 9th World Water Forum and the role of the Second Dushanbe International Conference, which will be held on June 6-9, 2022, on the eve of the UN Conference on the mid-term review of the Water Decade (March 22-24, 2023, New York) under the chairmanship of Tajikistan and the Netherlands.
Speaking at the ministerial meeting, Juma informed the participants about the preparations for the Second Dushanbe Water Conference on the topic “Promoting action and partnerships in the water sector at the local, national, regional and global levels” as a global preparatory event for the UN Midterm Review Conference on the Water Agenda.

Emperor of Japan Naruhito, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the leaders of the participating countries stressed the importance of the role of the UN Water Conference in solving water problems at the global level.
It was also noted that the initiatives of Tajikistan in solving water problems in the world led to a unique representation of the country in the international arena.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Presidents of Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia, Congo, the Vice President of the Gambia, the head of the World Water Council, the World Bank and foreign ministers of other states.
