DUSHANBE, 15.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkiye Ashrafjon Gulov gave an interview to the Turkish Dünya newspaper on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Turkiye, reports Khovar correspondent Manizha Maksudova from Istanbul.
During the interview, Ambassador noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Turkiye. Over these long years, positive results have been achieved in the development of relations in various fields, including in the economic, trade, investment and political spheres and in the field of security.
“To date, a favorable legal framework for relations and cooperation has been formed between Tajikistan and Turkiye. Over 30 years, more than 70 agreements, memorandums and other documents on cooperation have been signed, on the basis of which favorable opportunities have been created for cooperation in the political, economic, trade, investment, educational, cultural and other social and humanitarian spheres,” said Ambassador.
Gulov also provided information on bilateral relations in the fields of economy, culture, education and tourism, stressing that the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkiye on economic cooperation plays an important role in mutual relations. To date, 11 meetings of this commission have been held in Dushanbe and Ankara.

“In October 2021, a meeting of the commission was held in Dushanbe, on the sidelines of which the Industrial and Economic Forum of Tajikistan and Turkiye and meetings of B2B entrepreneurs and investors with the participation of more than 150 private sector entities of the two countries were held, as a result of which documents were signed on cooperation worth $75 million,” he added.
According to the Ambassador, cooperation in the field of education and tourism between the governments of Tajikistan and Turkiye is considered one of the priority areas.
He informed that, thanks to the “open door” policy of the government of Tajikistan, from January 1, 2022, a visa-free system for citizens of Turkiye was introduced, which will undoubtedly have an impact on increasing the tourist attractiveness of Tajikistan.
Gulov noted that Tajikistan and Turkiye have deep historical, cultural and humanitarian ties based on fraternal and friendly relations.
“We can say with confidence that the above factors contribute to the expansion of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of tourism,” said Ambassador.
