Kuala Lumpur Hosts Symposium Dedicated to the Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between Malaysia and Central Asian Countries

DUSHANBE, 04.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) — On June 30, Kuala Lumpur hosted the Symposium dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the Central Asian countries under the title «The New Axis of Growth».
The Symposium was organized the Embassy of Tajikistan in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, the Embassies of the Central Asian countries in Kuala Lumpur and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia (IDFR).
The keynote speech was made by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato Kamarudin Jaffar at the opening ceremony.
The Symposium focused on diplomatic relations, prospects for economic integration and future ways of expanding regional cooperation between Malaysia and Central Asian countries.
Ambassador of Tajikistan Ardasher Kodiri in his speech stressed that the government of Tajikistan attaches great importance to strengthening friendly relations with Malaysia, and developing cooperation with it is one of the priority directions of country’s foreign policy.
“Malaysia is a reliable friend and partner in the fast-growing region of Southeast Asia. Tajikistan can play the role of a trade gateway for Malaysia to Central Asia, Afghanistan and other neighbouring countries. Also, Malaysia can be a connecting link for Tajikistan with ASEAN countries,” he noted.
The event included a cultural program with national dances and songs, an exhibition of folk handicrafts, photographs and other information.
