FM Muhriddin Informs UN Secretary-General in Detail About the Latest Developments on the Border Between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

DUSHANBE, 19.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, on the sidelines of the High Level Week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a meeting with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
Muhriddin informed Guterres in detail about the latest developments on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and presented materials, including videos and photographs, proving the fact of military aggression by Kyrgyzstan.
He also noted that Tajikistan has always adhered and adheres to an exclusively political and diplomatic approach and has never been the initiator of a military solution of the border issue with Kyrgyzstan.
Also, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN, especially in the direction of sustainable economic and social development, climate change, water and energy issues and regional security.
The meeting also focused on issues of regional security, in particular the situation in Afghanistan.
The parties exchanged views on the measures taken by Tajikistan in providing humanitarian assistance.
The UN Secretary General welcomed the global initiatives of Tajikistan and expressed the readiness of the Organization for comprehensive cooperation in this regard.
