Speaker of the National Assembly Rustam Emomali Meets Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova

DUSHANBE, 12.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
The meeting focused on the state and prospects of friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
The parties exchanged views on further expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Rustam Emomali expressed his confidence that further strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the sphere of legislation, will contribute to expanding relations between the two countries.
Likewise, they expressed interest in expanding inter-parliamentary relations within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between the National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, including through regular contacts of friendship and cooperation groups.
Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are effectively cooperating within the framework of multilateral structures, including the UN, OSCE, CIS, OIC, ECO, and the interstate parliamentary structures of these organizations.
The parties also discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, scientific-technical, cultural-humanitarian, and military-technical spheres.
Gafarova spoke about increasing the volume of bilateral trade and the adaptation of its structure to modern requirements, expansion of cooperation in the fields of mining, light industry, food industry, production of building materials, agriculture, land fill, logistics, investments, and also with the effective implementation of the decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The meeting also focused on other important aspects of cooperation between the parties, including in the areas of culture and humanitarian activities, education and tourism.
As part of the development of cooperation between the capitals, the parties discussed the issue of erecting monuments to Nizomi Ganjavi in Dushanbe and Abuabdullo Rudaki in Baku.
