DUSHANBE, 24.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, on the sidelines of the High Level Week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the newly appointed UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Li Junhua.
The parties exchanged views on topical issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN DESA, including joint actions to promote the three pillars of sustainable development — social, economic, and environmental.
They also expressed their views on Tajikistan’s global initiatives in promoting the World Water Agenda, declaring 2025 as the Year of Glacier Protection, and the upcoming Dushanbe Counter-Terrorism Conference.
The meeting also focused on regional security, including the need to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
