DUSHANBE, 06.10.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations Axel van Trotsenburg and the Vice President of the World Bank Anna Byerde.
The discussion focused on current state and future prospects of the cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Bank.
Expressing his satisfaction over the current status of bilateral cooperation, President Rahmon noted that over the past 29 years of the partnership, the World Bank has financed the implementation of more than 110 projects of vital importance in Tajikistan totaling $2.5 billion.
In his turn, Axel van Trotsenburg mentioned Tajikistan’s significant opportunities in the production and export of clean and renewable energy, and reaffirmed World Bank’s support of Tajikistan’s contribution to the global agenda related to climate change.
The impact of COVID-19 pandemic to the national economy and social situation in Tajikistan and other threats and challenges were also discussed.
