DUSHANBE, 15.12.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the Speaker of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sadiq Sanjrani in Islamabad.

“Inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan is an effective means of strengthening bilateral relations and ensuring the interests of the states at the regional and international level,» said President Rahmon.

Noting their appreciation of the activities of the Tajik-Pakistani inter-parliamentary friendship group, the two sides emphasize the necessity to conduct extensive consultations of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups on the issues of peace and security in the region.

The meeting also related to the role of Tajikistan and Pakistan in the implementation of the CASA-1000 project, cooperation in the fields of energy, rational use of water resources, «green energy,» development of interstate cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, transport, investment, culture, health care, and the ways to increase the role of parliaments in strengthening bilateral relations in these areas.

It was noted that the organization of Tajik- Pakistani Inter-Parliamentary Forums in both states will promote strengthening cooperation between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest. The parties also exchanged views regarding the threat of terrorism and extremism to the security and stability of states, intensification of conflicts, informational conflicts and cybercrimes, climate change and its impact, as well as the increase in infectious diseases and the need to ensure the economic and social development of countries in such conditions.
