Humanitarian Aid Sent to Turkiye for Earthquake Victims on Behalf of the President of Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 09.02.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The humanitarian aid was sent to Turkiye for the victims of a strong earthquake on behalf of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The aid consists of basic foodstuffs such as flour, butter, sugar, rice, pasta and drinking water.
Along with this, the population affected by an earthquake in various provinces of Turkiye will be provided with winter clothes and shoes, tents, blankets and pillows, beds, bedding, woolen blankets, aluminum utensils, kitchen utensils, protective masks and antiseptic materials.
The total amount of humanitarian aid is about 100 tons.
Along with this, a group of rescuers of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense was sent to Turkiye, consisting of 50 experienced rescuers, surgeons and traumatologists. The aid was sent on the night of February 8 by the relevant structures to Turkiye on a special board with an official staff and a rescue team.
In these troubled days for the people of Turkiye, caring for and extending a helping hand to the victims of a strong earthquake is one of the urgent humanitarian measures that occupy the main place in the foreign and social policy of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and testifies to the constant efforts of the top leadership of Tajikistan in solving the problems of the international community.
On February 6, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 shook the province of Kahramanmaras in southeastern Turkiye. Earthquakes and hundreds of tremors were felt in 10 provinces of this country, as well as in neighboring states, including Syria.
As of the morning of February 9, the death toll from the earthquake in southeastern Turkiye has reached 12,391, and the number of injured — 62,914 people.
