UN Office on Drugs and Crime Informed About the Anti-Drug Policy of Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 17.03.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the 66th meeting of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, the Director of the Drug Control Agency of Tajikistan Habibullo Vohidzoda met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Ghada Fathi Waly.
Waly was informed about the anti-drug policy of Tajikistan, the achievements of the country and the work done by the authorized body of the republic to combat drug trafficking and prevent drug addiction.
In addition, taking into account the threats and dangers emanating from Afghanistan, including the increase in smuggling of narcotic drugs and other transnational crimes, Vohidzoda called on the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border through the provision of logistical assistance to establish the implementation of new projects cooperation with the authorized bodies of the republic.
The parties exchanged views on several topical issues, including the further strengthening of cooperation between the Agency and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
Waly stated that the issues of cooperation with the Agency and its full support are always in the center of her attention.
