DUSHANBE, 22.08.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On August 22, as part of an official visit to China, Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali met with a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Vice Premier of the Chinese State Council He Lifeng.
It was emphasized that relations with China occupy a priority place in the foreign policy of Tajikistan. The two countries have achieved significant results in all areas of cooperation, reaching the level of relations from ordinary bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
It was noted with satisfaction that there are relations of sincere friendship, good neighborliness, deep trust and mutual support between the two states, which are constantly developing on a favorable legal basis. In the political aspect, the relationship also covers the interaction and closeness of the positions of the two states on issues of the regional and global agenda.
Speaker of the National Assembly expressed satisfaction with the constant expansion of inter-parliamentary relations between Tajikistan and China at the bilateral level, as well as within the framework of regional and international organizations and institutions.
Rustam Emomali expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the support of the Government of this state in the implementation of important socio-economic programs and projects in Tajikistan and humanitarian assistance.
The parties drew attention to the development of interstate cooperation on issues of mutual attention, including the expansion of multifaceted relations within the framework of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Cooperation and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, as well as other regional and international organizations and departments.
The meeting focused on the development of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China, increasing the volume of trade, attracting investment from the Chinese business sector to the economy of Tajikistan, implementing joint projects in the field of transport, energy, industry, processing of mineral resources, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, contributing to the formation of the production chain and the creation of new jobs in Tajikistan.
It was considered necessary to attract modern Chinese investments and technologies to the development of the energy industry in Tajikistan, to accelerate the construction of line «D» of the gas pipeline «Turkmenistan — Uzbekistan — Tajikistan — Kyrgyzstan — China», to conduct joint scientific research in the field of agriculture and the creation of joint ventures for the cultivation and processing organic fruits and vegetables, cotton, corn and wheat, and e-commerce cooperation.
As part of the development of the One Belt, One Road initiative, it was noted that it was important to strengthen cooperation in the field of transport, expand the potential of transit corridors and, in this regard, upgrade the Kulma-Karasu checkpoint, implement the second stage of the Dushanbe-Kulma highway, increase in the number of air routes between the two states.
The parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation to create a production base based on «green» technologies, including the establishment of the production of electric vehicles, solar panels and «smart» electrical networks in Tajikistan.
Rustam Emomali invited He Lifen to visit Tajikistan at any convenient time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude and satisfaction.
