Tajikistan and the IAEA Note the Good Development of Cooperation in Various Fields

DUSHANBE, 28.09.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The delegation of Tajikistan led by Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies Aziz Nazar is taking part in the 67th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which takes place from September 25 September 29 in Vienna.
It was noted a good level of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the IAEA in various fields, including the peaceful use of nuclear technology within the framework of IAEA programs and other important projects in the field of health, environmental protection, especially glacier protection within the framework of the fifth initiative of the President of Tajikistan to announce the year 2025 International Year of Glacier Protection.
It was also emphasized the importance of reclamation of territories affected by uranium production in the countries of Central Asia, as well as it was noted the results of completed rehabilitation work, existing problems and the need to implement further measures.
On the sidelines of the conference, separate meetings of the country’s delegation with representatives of foreign countries were held to discuss areas of cooperation and joint implementation of the IAEA Strategic Master Plan for the rehabilitation of radioactive waste sites in the countries of Central Asia.
