Tajikistan Will Become a “Green Country” in 2037
DUSHANBE, 02.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – In 2032, electricity production in the country will be entirely from renewable sources, that is, 100% will be provided by “green energy” (currently 98%). Also, according to international standards, greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced to a minimum by 2037. It was noted by President Emomali Rahmon in his Address to the Parliament on December 28, 2023.
According to him, Tajikistan, as a champion country in the development of a “green economy,” will truly become a “green country” in 2037.
“Currently, our country ranks 6th in the world in terms of the percentage of electricity produced from renewable sources. We have decided to commission the third unit of the Rogun hydropower plant in 2025. In 2023, there were allocated more than 5 billion somoni from the state budget for this purpose, and today there are 15,000 construction workers and 3.5 thousand equipment are working in this construction of the century,” noted Emomali Rahmon.
