Permanent Representative of Tajikistan Attends the Side Event Dedicated to the International Day of Zero Waste

DUSHANBE, 28.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On March 27, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN Jonibek Hikmat participated and addressed a side event organized by the Permanent Mission of Turkiye, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) to celebrate the International Day of Zero Waste.
In his speech, Hikmat highlighted the importance of joint cooperation, especially the implementation of joint commitments aimed at realizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement and other related global instruments.
He also informed about the achievements and plans of the government and relevant authorities of Tajikistan, including the establishment of small and large enterprises on garbage recycling, reduction of plastic waste, land degradation, as well as the existing problems of the country in these areas.
Hikmat expressed the readiness of Tajikistan to cooperate with all stakeholders in ensuring a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive society.
