Bangkok hosts ministerial meeting of the UN Special Program for the Economy of Central Asia

DUSHANBE, 23.04.2024 /NIAT «Khovar»/. Today in Bangkok in the framework of the 80th session of the Economic and Social Commission of the United Nations /UN/ held a ministerial meeting of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia /SPECA/, which was headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Ahlidin Nuriddinzoda.
The meeting considered the implementation of decisions of the SPECA Declaration (November 24, 2023, Baku), issues of preparation for high-level SPECA events in Dushanbe, creation of SPECA Trust Fund, «green» economy, simplification of trade procedures and elimination of non-tariff barriers to trade, which resulted in the adoption of a joint statement of SPECA ministers.
SPECA ministerial meetings are held annually under the leadership of the presiding State. With the consent of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, the Republic of Tajikistan assumed the chairmanship of SPECA in 2024.
