DUSHANBE, 10.06.2024 /NIAT «Khovar»/— On June 10, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser on the sidelines of the Third International Conference on the International Decade of Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028».
During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank Group were discussed.
«Tajikistan considers the Islamic Development Bank as one of its important partners, and we are satisfied with the beneficial cooperation with it,» — said the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon.
It was emphasized that the Islamic Development Bank has financed the implementation of priority projects in Tajikistan in the amount of 916 million dollars. Currently, the Bank is financing 7 investment projects in the fields of energy, transport, irrigation, education and healthcare in the amount of 237 million dollars.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the issues of expansion of cooperation in the fields of energy, industry and agriculture, transport, organization of logistics centers, development of tourism, banking, reduction of the influence of external factors on the economy of Tajikistan and the continuation of reforms.
During the meeting, Tajikistan’s interest in the continuation of cooperation with the Bank in the framework of the Bilateral Cooperation Strategy for 2023-2026, the Agreement with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation and the Program «Supporting the National Education Development Strategy» was emphasized.
In today’s conditions of climate change, the use of «green energy», the development of «green economy», digitization and the introduction of «green» technologies in various areas of the economy were considered necessary.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of interest.
