Tajikistan exported 53,000 tons of cotton this year

DUSHANBE, 08.08.2024 /NIAT «Khovar»/. This year Tajikistan exported 53, 000 tons of cotton, in particular, Khatlon region — 30 thousand tons worth $56 million. It was said at a press conference by the Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Jamshed Nurmakhmadzoda.
For 6 months of the current year, 31 thousand tons of cotton was exported.
Today Tajikistan has adopted a strategy for processing cotton inside the country. The government of the country provides tax incentives to enterprises so that cotton could be processed to the final result.
Every year, up to 25 thousand tons of cotton is processed in Tajikistan, and the rest is exported.
