DUSHANBE, 23.09.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 23, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, took part and spoke at the Summit of the Future in New York city of the United States of America.

President Emomali Rahmon emphasized at the beginning of his speech that «this meeting has provided another opportunity to discuss the problems of climate change, poverty alleviation, public health protection, women’s living conditions, comprehensive education and other global issues.»

During the analysis of the complex political situation in the world, including modern threats to peace and security, our Head of State expressed confidence that the participants of today’s gathering would take specific measures to solve issues related to the reform of the international financial structure and improve international responses to modern threats.

According to the opinion of the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, the planned measures to solve climate, water and sanitation problems are still not adequate.

In this context, it was stressed that Tajikistan plans to strengthen its efforts in cooperation with other countries for the further implementation of its constructive initiatives in issues related to water and climate change.

The process of implementation of the International Decade of Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028» was called one of the clear examples of continuous efforts of countries in this area.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasized that the international community can succeed in finding ways to overcome modern challenges only through dialogue and constructive cooperation.

The Head of our state, Emomali Rahmon, also deliberated on strengthening and expanding cooperation between countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, taking joint measures at the global level to ensure comprehensive security and prevent terrorism and extremism and other global threats.

At the same time, Honorable Emomali Rahmon as the Leader of the host country of the «Dushanbe Process on Counter-Terrorism» welcomed the inclusion of this topic in the Pact for the Future, which will be adopted based on the results of this summit.

It was emphasized that the countries of the world should take effective measures to strengthen the main role of the United Nations in resolving conflicts and restoring peace and stability on the planet.

In this regard, Honorable Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon proposed to adopt a special resolution of the United Nations «Decade of Peacebuilding for the Future Generations».

At the same time, it was considered necessary for the United Nations and its agencies, as well as international and regional financial institutions, to take more active steps in coordinating the efforts of the international community in order to achieve sustainable development.
