DUSHANBE, 14.10.2024 /NIAT Khovar/. On October 14, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, met in Khorugh with leaders and activists of Badakhshan Mountainous Autonomous Province.

During his speech, President Emomali Rahmon analyzed the results of the social and economic development of the region, the implementation of the instructions and orders of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the construction process for the worthy reception of the national holiday — 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, and gave specific instructions and assignments to the leadership of the region and cities and districts, as well as the officials of the republican structures for the implementation of fundamental goals, ensuring plans and correcting shortcomings.

The Head of State expressed satisfaction that Badakhshan Mountainous Autonomous Province is becoming more prosperous and developed year by year and the quality of life of its residents is steadily improving with the constant support and care of the Government of the country.

It was emphasized that in the years of independence, more than 24 billion somoni were directed to the region from all sources of financing for the implementation of constructive goals and plans. Also, in this period, 3765 hectares of land was allocated for the construction of residential houses and improvement of living conditions for more than 37 thousand families of the region, which is over 3 times more than the land given before 1991. As a result of the measures taken by the Government of the country, the gross product of the region in 2024 is estimated at 1.9 billion somoni, which is 58 times more than in 2000.

During the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon deliberated on the constructive measures of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the development of all sectors, including the transport sector and the construction of roads and bridges, providing the necessary infrastructure, organizing the regular movement of cars, and the smooth transportation of passengers.

The Head of State stated that in total, during the period of independence, 38 state investment projects worth more than 4 billion somoni were implemented for the purpose of socio-economic development, reconstruction of infrastructure and improvement of the living standards of the people of the region, and now works are being carried out within the framework of another 16 projects with the total cost of 5.5 billion somoni is ongoing. It was stressed that the mentioned projects are implemented in the areas of education and health, transportation and energy, providing access to social services, electricity supply, irrigation and agriculture, natural disaster risk management, poverty reduction, microfinance development, adaptation to climate change and other important areas.

It was mentioned that 1021 facilities worth one billion somoni were commissioned in the cities and districts of the region in preparation for the 30th anniversary of Independence. In addition, as part of the Action Plan for the 35th anniversary of the State Independence, the construction and reconstruction of 1362 facilities is planned.

Honorable Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, confidently stated that the leaders of the cities and districts of the region, patriotic residents and honest businessmen in cooperation with the ministries and agencies will mobilize all their capabilities to build and put into operation the remaining facilities on time.
