DUSHANBE, 01.11.2024 /NIAT “Khovar”/. On October 30 of this year, the plenary session of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16) was held in the city of Cali, Republic of Colombia, in which the Chairman of the Committee, Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon, took part and spoke on the topic «Urgent measures to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework».
At the same time, the Government of Tajikistan, steadily adhering to the course of sustainable development, strives to harmonize national priorities with the global goals of sustainable development. In this context, fulfilling its obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity and its protocols is one of the primary actions of Tajikistan, which brings the country closer to obtaining tangible indicators in the issues of preserving valuable ecosystems, their biological components, improving the standard of living of the population and ensuring food security.
With the support of international institutions and development partners, UN agencies have developed and adopted fundamental documents regulating actions in relation to biological diversity. The National Strategy and Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity is the main document that reflects an assessment of the current state of biological diversity, threats, impact factors and the main strategic directions in the field of conservation and sustainable use, access to genetic resources and equitable distribution of benefits.
Emphasizing its commitment to global actions in the field of harmonizing the relationship between nature and man and striving to contribute to the implementation of the Global Framework Program on Biodiversity, Tajikistan is updating the National Strategy and Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity and national objectives. Work on updating the strategy is carried out taking into account the designated principles of involvement of the government and all social groups. The key national document, which serves as a political guide for the implementation of action in the field of biological diversity, is based on the acceptance and consideration of the rights of all parties involved and is aimed at creating sustainable and creative mechanisms for preserving biological wealth and ensuring the well-being of the population.
