Briefing on the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Conservation held in Geneva

On 6 May 2025, at the initiative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, and in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a press briefing related to the High-Level International Conference on the Preservation of Glaciers (29–31 May 2025) was held at the WMO headquarters for permanent missions to the UN Office at Geneva and other international organizations, as well as for international agencies and organizations.
The aim of the briefing was to raise awareness, encourage broad participation, and highlight the urgency of global action to prevent glacier melt. The Conference will be held under the framework of the UN General Assembly resolution declaring the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, and its outcomes will feed into major international processes including COP30, the UN High-Level Political Forum, and other global platforms.
