DUSHANBE, 29.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 29, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Honourable Shahbaz Sharif, who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the first High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation.
The meeting discussed the current agenda of relations between the two countries and other issues of mutual interest.
The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, said that we appreciate Pakistan’s contribution to the implementation of Tajikistan’s global initiatives on water and climate issues.
Satisfaction was expressed with the steady development of relations between the countries, and the historical and cultural commonality of the two countries was called the basis for this process.
In connection with the trends of serious developments and the increase in unrest in various regions of the planet, it was considered important to strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense and security.
The sides paid close attention to the expansion of relations between the two countries in various economic sectors, especially in the energy, communications and transport sectors.
The importance of the CASA-1000 project as a link between the vast Central and South Asian region was emphasized.
It was noted that Tajikistan is interested in expanding air, rail and road routes, as well as access to Pakistani ports, to improve regional connectivity.
In order to expand economic cooperation, it was approved to continue the effective work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, the Joint Council and the next Forum of Tajik-Pakistani Entrepreneurs.
