Emomali Rahmon Commissions Irrigation Water Supply Line in Basmanda Village, Devashtich District

DUSHANBE, 12.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 12, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, put into operation an irrigation water supply line with three vertical wells in the Basmanda village of the Vahdat rural community of the Devashtich district.
The water supply line was brought from the Basmanda area over a distance of more than 9 kilometers through a 400-millimeter diameter pipe. This increased the area of irrigated lands of the Hotam Kurbonov dehkan farm from 375 hectares to 800 hectares.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that this initiative was implemented with the aim of effective and targeted use of lands at the expense of the funds of the Executive Body of State Power of the Sughd Province. This process will actively contribute to the improvement of arable lands, the introduction of new areas into agricultural circulation, and the increase in potato cultivation.
With the irrigation of 500 hectares of new potato land in the Devashtich district, 1,000 people have found jobs.
The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, instructed the officials of the sector to use all the available resources of the country to increase potato production in the Devashtich district to 500 thousand tons by 2030 and to 1 million tons by 2050.
It was also instructed to hold a republican seminar-conference with the participation of scientists in the field in potato farms of the Devashtich district for the development and progress of the potato growing industry.
