Head of State Emomali Rahmon Meets with Leaders and Activists of Panjakent

DUSHANBE, 11.07.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 11, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with leaders and activists after the inauguration of a number of facilities in the center of Panjakent.

First, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, expressed his gratitude to the people of the ancient city of Panjakent for the warm and sincere welcome.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, stated that in the city of Panjakent, in anticipation of the Independence Day, 47 industrial enterprises and workshops, 36 healthcare facilities, 59 educational institutions, 9 cultural facilities, 32 sports grounds, 8 administrative buildings, 21 tourist facilities and hotels, 117 trade and service facilities, 92 kilometers of roads, 37 bridges, 14 high-rise residential buildings, and 321 other facilities have been built and put into operation.

Availing the occasion, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, expressed his gratitude to all the noble people of Panjakent, honorable entrepreneurs, and generous individuals for their patriotic efforts in the construction of production and social facilities, and in the promotion of public works.

It was emphasized that over the years of independence, the Government of the country has allocated more than 9.3 billion somoni for the development of various sectors of the city of Panjakent, eliminating social problems of the population, and improving the level and quality of life of the people. Only from the state budget, 2.6 billion somoni have been allocated for the development of the city.

During the period of independence, 26 state investment projects worth more than 1.4 billion somoni have been implemented in the city, and now the implementation of 6 more projects worth a total of more than 100 million somoni is ongoing.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, recalled that during the period of independence, the city of Panjakent was one of the first to transform from an agrarian city into an industrial and agrarian one. There are currently 52 industrial enterprises operating in the city, which is by 7 more than last year.

In order to achieve the strategic goal of ensuring food security, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, considered it necessary to take additional measures to provide products not only for the domestic market, but also for export, through the rational use of water and land, as well as by establishing fruit and vegetable processing enterprises.

It was noted that despite significant results, there are still a number of issues in the education sector of the city that need to be resolved, which the city’s leaders and officials and relevant structures and authorities must take timely measures to eliminate.

To correct the shortcomings in the healthcare sector, in particular the shortage of personnel, the Head of State gave specific instructions to the relevant structures.

The Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon called the ancient city of Panjakent one of the important areas for the development of tourism in Tajikistan.

In this regard, it was considered necessary to give priority to strengthening the existing capabilities of the city, building tourism infrastructure, training professional guides, developing crafts, and improving tourism services.

In his closing remarks, the President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, expressed confidence that the proud residents of the city of Panjakent will continue to contribute to the progress and prosperity of our independent country, working together and united, and will make even greater socio-economic and cultural achievements.
