DUSHANBE, 25.08.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev.

The talks began in a restricted format and continued in an expanded format. The parties discussed the current state and future development of  bilateral relations, interparliamentary ties, and exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues..

Expressing his gratitude to the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament for the invitation to pay an official visit, Rustami Emomali emphasized the Tajik side’s interest in maintaining a high level of friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Kazakhstan.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of strategic and allied relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan and highly appreciated the significant contribution of the heads of the two states Emomali Rahmon and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to strengthening this process.

The signing of the Treaty on Alliance Relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan was noted important.

At the meeting, interparliamentary ties were identified as one of the key areas of relations between the two states. Both parliaments have established mutually beneficial cooperation on a permanent and high-quality basis, playing an increasingly important role in strengthening trust between the states.

Satisfaction was expressed with the sustainable development of bilateral relations between the countries in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, scientific and technical, and military-technical spheres.

The parties emphasized their focus on the continuous expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

The priority areas of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan were identified as mining, light industry, food and chemical industries, non-ferrous metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, agriculture, energy, transport, and communications.

The digitalization of the economy was identified as one of the promising areas of cooperation between the two countries.

It was noted that Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are effectively cooperating in water and climate issues, as well as the rational use of water resources in the region.

The parties then focused on the development and expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties, particularly in the fields of education, science, and culture. The holding of Culture Days and the organization of joint scientific, practical, and cultural events were recognized as important.

An exchange of views took place on topical issues on the global and regional agenda, and the parties supported the continuation of constructive cooperation between the two states in strengthening borders and jointly countering transnational threats and challenges.
