President Emomali Rahmon gets acquainted with operations of farming units in Tursunzoda

DUSHANBE, 16.08.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On August 16, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and the Chairman of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Rustam Emomali, visited the city of Tursunzoda to get acquainted with the activities of farmers, the targeted use of arable land, the loss-free harvesting of crops, meeting the needs of the capital’s markets with high-quality domestic food products, and strengthening export potential.

First, the Head of State visited the rice fields, which are grown in repeated sowing after the wheat harvest. It was reported that this year in the city of Tursunzoda, 5,200 hectares of rice have been sown, of which 4,000 hectares are repeated sowing.

In general, the city’s farmers aim to harvest more than 40,000 tons of high-quality rice this year, and in addition to meeting domestic demand, export it abroad.

During the visit, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, got acquainted with the activities of the “Anguri Somon” farm. It was reported that this farm has 500 hectares of vineyards, where, depending on the favorable climatic conditions, various grape varieties are grown, mainly for export and the production of raisins, and a rich and high-quality harvest is harvested every year.

This year, the grape harvest in the farm’s vineyard is rich, and its workers aim to harvest more than 20 thousand tons of high-quality grapes and, in addition to ensuring abundance in the domestic market, export 10 thousand tons of them abroad.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that the total area of vineyards in the city of Tursunzoda is 5,300 hectares, and since 2024, winegrowers have exported more than 32 thousand tons of grapes abroad.

Given the bountiful harvest this year, winegrowers aim to increase the volume of grape exports abroad to 40 thousand tons.

During a visit to the corn field, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was informed, among other things, that this year, after harvesting various crops from the main crop, this crop has been planted on an area of more than 780 hectares in the city of Tursunzoda. The growth of corn is good, and farmers are hoping for a bountiful harvest.

At the end of his visit to the city of Tursunzoda, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, visited the Hoji Nemat farm, which is mainly engaged in viticulture and seedling cultivation.

It was noted that the farm has 105 hectares of vineyards, where 6 types of grapes are grown. The farm’s winegrowers believe that this year they will obtain more than 5 thousand tons of high-quality grapes.

The farm also has a cold storage for storing 1,200 tons of grapes, which is intended for storing grapes and other fruits and vegetables and offering them to the market in 4 seasons.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, also witnessed the beginning of the grape drying season for the production of raisins at this farm.

As was reported, the winegrowers of the city of Tursunzoda have mastered this new experience for themselves in recent years. In particular, last year they exported 1,500 tons of raisins abroad.

In general, official information shows that the farmers of the city of Tursunzoda have made a significant contribution to increasing the production of products in this sector, implementing the Program for the Development of Horticulture, Viticulture and Citrus Growing in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2025-2029, and ensuring the country’s food security. In particular, they have built vegetable greenhouses on an area of 77 hectares to ensure the abundance and stability of the consumer market in 4 seasons and cold storages for storing 28 thousand tons of fresh fruits and vegetables.

During a conversation with the city’s leadership and farmers, the Head of State Emomali Rahmon gave them instructions and guidance to further increase production indicators, present and disseminate the advanced practices of Tursunzoda farmers in other cities and districts of the country, boost Tajikistan’s export capacity, and abundantly stockpile food for the winter, primarily for the needs of the capital city of Dushanbe.
