Tajik company darya.ai, which specializes in sustainable technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, and Yotta Data Services Private Limited, India’s largest data center developer and part of the Hiranandani Group, have announced the creation of a joint venture to build and operate a green data center in Darvaz, Khovar reports.
The agreement was signed at an international conference on artificial intelligence held in Dushanbe on October 25.
The new center will be a key element of the national artificial intelligence infrastructure and an important part of the country’s strategy to have the AI sector account for up to 5% of GDP by 2040.
It will be powered entirely by renewable hydroelectricity, enabling Tajikistan to strengthen its position as a regional data storage and processing hub in Central Asia.
The data center will provide modern computing power for businesses, government agencies, and research organizations, as well as give startups access to cutting-edge NVIDIA GPU-based technologies. The use of clean energy is in line with the government’s plan to develop a green economy and environmentally friendly technologies.
“The partnership with Yotta is an important step towards creating a modern and independent technological infrastructure in Tajikistan. The project will not only strengthen regional capacity in the field of AI, but also create new opportunities for engineers, researchers, and data management specialists,” said Kristina Zaalishvili, COO of darya.ai.
The joint venture will combine darya.ai’s expertise in sustainable technologies and local integration with Yotta’s global competencies in creating energy-efficient data centers.
The project in Darvaz will be the first step in a large-scale program that will make Tajikistan a strategic link between South and Central Asia in the field of artificial intelligence technologies.
