On November 20, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, put into operation 3 sections of the Dehmoy-Konibodom highway — Dehmoy-Bobojon Ghafurov, Bobojon Ghafurov-Khistevarz and Kuchkak-Konibodom — by cutting the symbolic ribbon.

The Dehmoy-Bobojon Ghafurov, Bobojon Ghafurov-Khistevarz, Kuchkak-Konibodom highway, 52 km long, was built with high quality and in accordance with international standards, within the framework of the Program for Improving Regional Roads in Central Asia, which is being implemented in Tajikistan in the Sughd, Khatlon, and Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Provinces.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, was informed that construction of 11 overpasses, 17 stations, reinforced concrete walls, power and communication lines on both sides of the road, flagstone sidewalks, roadside protective fences, installation of road signs, and construction of other auxiliary facilities were accomplished on the Dehmoy-Konibodom highway in accordance with the project.

We would like to remind that on October 8, 2021, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, officially launched the construction of the Dehmoy-Konibodom highway, emphasizing that construction work should be carried out with high quality.

It should be noted that on September 10, 2024, the Leader of the Nation, during a working trip to the Sughd Province, got acquainted with the progress of construction work on this road.

So, after four years, the Dehmoy-Konibodom highway has been put into operation in accordance with standards, expanding Tajikistan’s transit opportunities as an integral part of the transport infrastructure in the country and the region. During this time, road builders were able to carry out high-quality construction work with clean energy and using existing conditions.

The residents of the Sughd Province, with increased sincerity and pride in the construction and creative work of the Motherland, assessed the commissioning of the Dehmoy-Konibodom highway as the result of the steadfast efforts of the Head of State.

It was reported that all construction materials used in the construction of all three sections of the road, like other roads being built in the country, were previously tested in a laboratory and then used in construction work, so that this route will serve the people for many years.

It is planned to start the construction and renovation of the fourth section of this route, Kurush-Bekobod, with a length of 12.7 kilometers, for a cost of more than $8 million.

The development of modern transport and communication infrastructure and the construction of roads of regional and international importance, among other achievements of the independence era, play a valuable role in the decent and prosperous life of the people.

It was noted that with the funds saved from the Program for Improving Regional Roads in Central Asia worth four and a half million dollars, the Khistevarz-Sohilob section with a length of 9.7 kilometers will be renovated and put into operation in the future. 3 additional overpasses are planned on this additional route.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, highly appreciated the level and quality of construction work on the Dehmoy-Konibodom route and stated that, based on the perspective of international transport highways, the Republic of Tajikistan should become a transit country by 2030.

Achieving this strategic goal of the country will allow for friendship and cooperation, improving the national economy, exchanging goods and products, expanding trade, and ultimately ensuring the prosperity of the Motherland and a decent life for the people of Tajikistan.

According to officials, today 17 state investment projects worth more than 13 billion somoni are being implemented in the transport sector. Projects implemented in the road and transport sector not only have a positive impact on the standard and quality of life of the people and economic development, but also increase the international prestige of the Republic of Tajikistan as a transit country.
