Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon Attends Festive International Navruz Celebrations

DUSHANBE, 21.03.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – On March 21, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, and the Chairman of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustam Emomali, participated in the 2026 International Navruz celebrations at Navruzgoh in the capital.

A large number of residents and foreign guests attended the festive event.

The Navruz venue, Navruzgoh, was beautifully decorated with festive slogans and symbols of the international holiday.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, addressed the participants of the cultural program and congratulated the people of Tajikistan, as well as compatriots abroad, on the occasion of International Navruz.

President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Navruz is one of the most ancient and significant holidays of humanity. It symbolizes the awakening of nature, the arrival of a new year and new life, the purity and elevation of spirit and thought, and the promotion of humanistic and moral values.

He described Navruz as one of the enduring traditions that reflects the philosophy of life, a school of self-awareness, and the rich history of the culture and civilization of our Aryan ancestors.

The Head of State highlighted the invaluable contribution of our ancestors to preserving this sacred heritage, calling it a priceless national treasure.

“In today’s world, full of contradictions, Navruz serves as a bridge of friendship among peoples, a factor of peace and mutual understanding, and an example of the coexistence of civilizations. The international community recognizes it as a global celebration,” the President noted.

Considering the importance of this ancient tradition, Emomali Rahmon also recalled the initiative to establish an International Navruz Center in the capital, Dushanbe, noting that it is not only a tribute to the past but also an investment in the nation’s cultural future.

It was noted with satisfaction that on December 10, 2025, at the 20th session of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee, Tajikistan’s national nomination, “Culture of Sumanak Preparation,” was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Emomali Rahmon emphasized the responsibility to preserve Navruz traditions, promote their values, and pass them on to future generations in their full richness and beauty.

Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to study the history, culture, and enduring values of their people.

It was also noted that this year’s Navruz celebrations coincide with preparations for the 35th anniversary of state independence, calling on citizens to work diligently toward further strengthening and prosperity of the country.

The Head of State expressed confidence that the Tajik people, through unity, mutual understanding, patience, perseverance, sincere work, and strong will, will achieve their strategic goals and further develop Tajikistan into a prosperous nation, with Dushanbe as a true reflection of the state’s progress.

Following the congratulatory address, a festive concert program began.

It is noteworthy that, year by year, thanks to the support of the Leader of the Nation, the celebration of International Navruz across the country continues to gain greater scale and splendor.

During the cultural program, artists and performers showcased the rich traditions of this ancient holiday, while performances by young and talented pop and folk artists added vibrancy and color to the celebration.

The main objective of celebrating International Navruz at a high level is to honor the sacred heritage, traditions, and both ancient and modern culture and civilization of the Tajik people.
